Our last day together in Waikiki and we woke up to an overcast grey drizzly day and it looked like it had set in for the day. I had thought about going snorkelling to look for those turtles but it wasn't going to happen. Adam and I decided instead to spend some relaxing time in the hot spa after breakfast and before we had to check out which came too far soon.
It was a bit of a madhouse in the lobby. Apparently with the rain and bad traffic there was quite a wait on taxis so Adam had to book an Uber at quite an inflated cost but it was almost 12.20pm and mum and I needed to be at the airport by around 1pm. For a while we didn't think we would make it. Once we arrived at the airport we checked our bags and said a very quick goodbye to Adam before getting in the security line which took forever. I think we were the last to board the plane but we somehow managed an Exit seat...they had allocated our seats at the gate. The only ones to board after us were those waiting stand by.
A quick 45min flight and we had arrived on the Big Island. An outdoor airport which is the smallest International airport I have ever seen. Waited for our bags, which were a no show so asked the attendant if there were any more to come. She said they were all on the carousel. Looked up our tags and advised they were on the next flight which would land in about 15mins. We decided to wait because if they delivered them we may not get them to late tonight. At least they have a flight eveyr hour, it could have been worse.
Our bags arrived and we jumped in a taxi to our hotel for the night. It is on the water and it seems like a nice little town...although lots of shops and traffic. We went for a wander and could see the Safari Explorer, our home for the next 7 nights anchored off shore in the distance. Small walk along the water edge and then came back for an early dinner and quiet night in the hotel room so I could catch up on the blog.
Felt bad for Adam as his flight wasn't out till 9pm tonight so he spent quite a bit of time at the airport lounge waiting for his long flight home. So happy we got to spend this week together though. Just need to win lottery now so we can do it more often
