Cahuita - a lovely beach town, with the beach on one side of town having white sand, the other black sand. It was time to relax and enjoy the sunshine.
After arriving and using the internet I wandered down to the white sand beach with Ally and enjoyed some people watching, while eating an icecream. Browsed through some shops before enjoying a dip in the hotel pool. Out for dinner to a local restaurant that did Caribbean style meals and had a nice curry and fresh pineapple juice. They do the best fresh juices here - you have the choice to have them made with water or milk.
Back to the hotel for some frog spotting. Asked a security guard if he had seen any, expecting him to tell us where, instead he took us to the pool, but stopped to shine his torch into the trees to show us a sloth on the lowest branch who was actually looking at us and moving very slowly. They do move in slow motion. Then to the pool surrounds and frogs and more frogs. It was great.
Yesterday morning, I made my way to the bus station and caught a local bus out to a sloth sanctuary - the only one in the world. I wanted to learn more about this funny looking creature and it was worth it. I learnt the difference between the 2 and 3 fingered sloth and how difficult it is to look after them. They are unable to release any orphaned babies into the wild once they have been cared for because they lack the capability of teaching the babies exactly what leaves they can and cannot eat. They currently have 100 sloths they are looking after. Any adults that are bought to them can be released into the wild. Some interesting trivia!!!
Back to town for a swim in the Caribbean after some lunch and then journal writing time at the hotel before we went out for dinner again for another lovely meal.
This morning I was awake at 6am so I got up for one last look for the elusive green and black poison arrow dart frog - found 3 so was able to get this great photo.
Then the bus back to San Jose where I dumped my bags and then walked to the bus station to buy my ticket for tomorrow. They can get sold out so best to get in advance. I'm heading to Monteverde Cloud Forest for a night. Meant to be stunning, so looking forward to it.
Again, I've just added a few photos. Will hopefully add more on the weekend. Thanks for the messages, love reading them.
