From the Med to the Red
Night location: Rome
After three excellent flights, we arrived in Rome, the city of pastel coloured grand buildings, ornate fountains, precision drivers, gelato sellers and a fascinating ancient past. No wonder we return again and again!
We have done little else today but wander through the cobbled streets of the old city. Every street has its own charm and tells its own story. For our evening passeggiata we walked up to Piazza Napoleone which is on the outskirts of the Borghese gardens. Its claim to fame are the panoramic views over the Roman skyline but it was also a very popular make-out spot for Italian youths. We soaked up the atmosphere at Piazza del Poppolo before making our way to a restaurant that was a local recommendation.

Althea Halliday What a pleasure to read again of Rome in all its splendour! We can see it and ‘feel’ it in our imagination. We are at the Greek Orhodox church in Leichhardt awaiting the arrival of the bride.
