Wandering Europe
Yeh well the choice for photos next to these posts are limited and i havnt done many of them so i dont wanna use the good ones up....like london bridge etc......well i am kinda got the take the opertunity while i have it......and there is internet here at this hostel, only one kid in my dorm sleeping (ie not much socializin goin on), so i figured i would babble a bit more. I also did laundry and showered so i am on top of things. Though i should think about food soon. Anyway crazy day...sorta....intresting......so i leave the hotel and i am standing there in the street with prolly that exited/scared lost american look that all the brits laugh at and this guy stops and he is like 'you lookin for a hostel' and i said i had no clue what i was looking for.....he said i must have a plan so i asked him for a copy store, hardware store and info center.....he pointed them all out and off i went......first alcohol for the stove.....umm this was fun most places thought i was looking for liquor but on attempt number 3 i found something like what i need......it seemed cheap at 1.5 but as i thought back that is lbs and so not as cheap as i thought though......but the guy was really friendly and since the ingrediants were not listed he called up the manufacturer and had em send a data sheet on the product so i felt bad not buying it and it should work......i hope......maybe i will blow up.....so....next right across the street was a cemetary (westminster) so what the heck i will tool around it a bit it's free.......ummmm that'll teach me.......so i am walking around looking at graves reading the sayings similar to the US and the oldest were from 1820/30 and up through WWII time.......then so squarrels nearly attacked me i think thinking i had food.....further along there was a lady feeding the little beasts which would explain their tame nature, and she also had a cage and was trying to lure them into it.......sketchy......i should have left then......so i walk some more few pics.....then i pass a guy on a bike and think nothing of it......pass a few more gents.....then as i have turned around and decide to leave the guy on the bike comments on the size of my pack......i laugh he questions where i am from US or Canada....we chat and i am thinking this is great the brits are so friendly......then ignorant ben asks if he is married and he responds with the oh so obvious response i should ahve seen a mile away that he is gay....quickly followed by are you.......doh.....so much for friendly brits especially when they comment on the size of your 'pack'......so moving along i go with the conversation (after stating my heterosexual and taken status) and he tells me that earls court (the town my mom booked my hotel in) is fairly ritzy as well as fairly gay.......hummmm even my mom is trying to tell me something......it was all good though.....maybe it was the white skin tight see through sleeveless t i was wearing ;-) jk.....but do i really look that gay....maybe it was the shells......so he pointed me in the right direction of where i wanted to go and i bid mr charles a good day and i was off.......i also finished the collage i had cut pictures for.....i stumbled upon a natural history museum and it was free.....i was all over that....but first lunch.....i bought some peanut butter that was kinda hard to find and i ahve a niffty tube thingy to put it in (to cut weight and a bit cleaner)....so i am in front of this huge museum and tryign to stuff peanut butter down this tube thingy it was messy and in fact as some high schoolers walked by i hear one of em say ewww what is he eatting.....i looked up and laughed and they scurried along and turned around after about 12 feet and said sorry....it was funny....then i cleaned up in the bathroom and went through the museum...well the free part was not over impressive and they were working on some of it so part of it was closed....but there was a lecture about gulf current and i caught the tail end of it and it was pretty intresting....so i had had enough and moved on (though there was some cool things but photo's were not allowed) ...then i remember that charles had mentioned this place called the harrods i should check out.......i had no idea what it was but Princess Diana had something to do with it so i figured it was worth seein.......so i go along looking for this place the harrods...maybe a museum, a bridge, road, i had no clue but i asked everyone where it was......when i got there it was a store.....hummmm....store eh......well it was huge and really nice looking so i gave it a shot.......walked in and was great by a gaurd who said to go down to door number 3 on the left cause of my pack.....ok sure......3 doors down.....nope not that one next guy again instructed me left to door number 3........picture this 5 times over and over.......none of these fine doors are labeled and why are there so many of them......almost all the way around this huge block i find door number 2.......one too many and i back tracted and found the right one........mental note next time ask them what door i was at initially.....so i get in and the bag check is 2.5lbs......ummm steep.....maybe if i was gonna tour the city a bit i will do that cause i can keep it there all day.......but not today when i have no need to buy anything.......the diana thing...in his words there was a small memorial downstairs.......so i moved on to hyde park and rested in a chair while eatting some strawberries.....and gent comes over, not hitting on my but hitting me up for money.....the chairs cost money to sit in and hewas the patroller of the chairs.......i wanted to ask him his job title but i refrained and asked how much the ground was.........then it was getting late so i thought i should head to the hostel.......after a long day with the pack on for the first time in a while i was feeling the weight.......and i had some extra weight i was gonna ditch at the hostel.......but finally i found the unmarked hostel and got to the room hoping to find some people making plans for food or just to chat with and instead i find a guy sleeping.......i decided to shower and clean clothes while i had the chance........and that is the step by step til now.....so far some of my thoughts on the brits are that they are really helpful and nice.....old and young they were all quite nice.....one older couple (maybe 80ish) were walking arm and arm he was helping her more but when i asked about hyde park she very boldly and triumpantly announced i should stay due north and i would find it.......it was funny.....and clean there are guys everywhere with carts and those extendable arms you buy as a kid yet have no use for well they pick up trash without exiting the cart.........'way out'.....way out where....way out in nowhere......i figured it out though exit is generally used as an emergency term.....way out is how you get out of somewhere.........aight i must jet stomach needs food and i need to check on the social scene......til later benjamin L
