Although it was too foggy to use cairns to navigate, they were most reassuring when I found one.

Just before the gloom is the top of Tempilskletur at 493 meters. I had to navigate the whole way via nose, gps, less than common sense and a dose of luck. Visibility was about 30 meters or 100 feet. Hard to see the cairns until I trip over them. The really important thing to do in situations like this is to capture a reverse heading with the gps in the event I need to fall back to compass. And, get a bearing on the wind direction as it stays remarkably constant.

A view inside the ferry on the upper level. The trip to Suduroy will take several hours and will give me an opportunity to dry out. The ride is mostly smooth, but the occasional sweeps to the side remind me that this is claimed to be the most turbulent part of the North Sea.
