We stayed two nights in Puno before moving on to Cusco, where our Trek will start. After having passed the "border" between Bolivia and Peru (that hardly deserves such a name - I guess we could have simply walked passed immigration unnoticed), we reach the city southwest of Lake Titicaca.

Puno is a typical Peruvian city - mostly dirty and run-down - but has one single nice street in which all the money went. There, you can find nice restaurants and bars. We make it a custom to wash down all food with a strong drink (Pisco or Aniseto) to kill the germs. So far this works well for us - at least we get drunk :-)

One of the tourist attractions near Puno are the floating islands - actually floats constructed from peat and reed, with little huts on them. 10-20 people live on such a float, giving rise to a total population of a few hundreds of reed-people. What a life.
