We're over the very worst part of Montezuma's revenge and meet in Ollantaytambo and take the train to Machupicchu. The train is really a 100% tourist thing and they make a big fuzz about it, with check-in, passport control, announcements like in a plane, and onboard food service. Guys, it's just a train, keep it low!

We stay overnight in Machupicchu town and take the Bus up to the Inca site in the morning. Supposedly it's great to see the sunrise here, but it's raining when we go up, so I can't confirm or disconfirm this. When we reach the site, it's all in clouds, so I'm afraid to not see it at all. Fortunately it clears up, and eventually we can see a good part of it with some clouds around it, that actually provide a mysterious and interesting view on the site.

It is so big! I had expected something much smaller, like a temple, but this is an entire city that housed 2000-3000 Incas. Interestingly, it was found by a modern indiana jones by accident, because he was actually looking for something else and finally got here, where a local boy showed him Machupicchu for 2 Peruvian soles (less than 1 dollar). That was in 1911.

Despite our poor condition and the poor weather, Machupicchu is truly impressive and amazing. How steep everything is, how it is carved into the peak of the mountain, and the views you have from the different parts of Machupicchu are a big wow! In the hindsight, I would probably spend two nights in Machpicchu to have more time and thus a better chance for good weather. Anyway, I can really recomment the trip (just be careful what you eat and drink).
