Day 1 Cape Town
Today we had a late start, and got alot of info on the trion whats going to happen the following days. After that we went to a winefarm for some wine tasting (a winelist will come on the next update). After that we had a dinner out on a resturant. According to our guide it was the last decent meal for a week, (this proved to be abit wrong if you ask me because the meals we have been making has been good). So this was a day where we just got to know one another, this proved rather easy for most of us since we're 13 norwegians and one french that doesnt speak much english (quelle surprise :P ).
Day 2 Cape Town
This morning we climbed the mountain called Lions head, its located right next to Tabletop mountain. This took much of the morning, but gave a fantastic view of Cape Town. After this we went down to Cape of good hope, and on the way we stopped for a quick lunch. After this we went back up to Cape town but on another more scenic route.
Day 3 West Coast
Today we left Cape town and our good comfy beds behind. This day was a driving day where we had about 8 hours in the truck. We also had to stop on the way to stock up on provisions, the guide got food for everyone while we got beer and water for ourselves :P. We set up camp at a place called Cozy mountain.
Day 4 Orange River
Today we crossed the border into Namibia, then we continued abit further until we reached Orange river. Here we had lunch before we went with canoes down stream. The scenery along the river was interesting to watch because it was only a belt of green on each side, streching for only 10 to 20 meters from the water. After that it was only desert. This day we only managed to get 10km down stream, our guide had hoped for 15km or more. Still we found a nice spot on the riverbank to set up camp, so this night we spent under an amazing night sky.
Day 5 Orange River continued
Today we continued downstream, we had an early start because today we had to get 24km down river to our pick up point. And that had to be before lunch. After lunch we got picked up by buss and taken back to our starting point. Here we spent the night and had dinner. For dinner we had what the south african's call a ''brie'' this is basicly a bbq with a spicy twist.
A litle fun fact about the river is that it acts as the border between South Africa and Namibia. So while this night was in Namibia while the night before we camped in South africa.
