Hi everyone, Sorry this blog is so late. The internet access is getting worse and worse on the ship. I have already worked for an hour trying to download 3 pictures.
We had a wonderful time in Chennai as we expected. We took 2 trip from the ship. A city tour and a temple tour. We have begin to enjoy our teacher and his wife. They live in Pittsburg but both are from Ecuador. They are young and so excited about life. They lead the temple trip so we got to know them a little better.
Many of the people on the ship went to the north to see the Taj Mahal but since we were just there we stayed in Chennai. One day we went into town for shopping and lunch. The next 2 days we went in to town by ourselves. We enjoyed the busy atmosphere. We took a tut-tut and went to the beach where the fishing village is. They lost 150 people there during their last tsunami. Now they are living in shacks, but there is housing being built.
Next we let the driver take us to s store where he gets commission. We spent 3 hours there looking, and some buying, at their wonderful inventory of antique jewelry, antique bronze castings and many other things. We visited with the salesmen and had a great time. They recommended a local restaurant and we had wonderful Indian food.
I was a little sad when we left the harbor. I guess we have to come back to see the Ganges River where the pilgrims go to bath. The people who went there said it was something you had to see. If the photo works like it should you will see it above.
I will write again soon. Tomorrow we will be in Singapore. We will do a city tour and then I will try to get my nails done. Priorities you know!

Vicki It sounds like you saw a whole different 'slice' of India. You never said if you bought anything. I'm guessing it was hard to resist antique jewelry. I thought you were considering a get-a-way to Bali? Always good to hear about your adventures.
Sue Blass I'm also betting on antique jewelry! What an adventure to remember all your life. Can't wait to hear about the next stop. Maybe you will do a program for FRIENDS.
Tina Hi mom, great to hear from you. Sounds like a great time without running from tour to tour. Glad to hear you are liking your teachers better. Had fun at wedding and off to Scottsdale tomorrow, will e-mail later-late to go riding. Beautiful photos. Miss you.
Mary & Eric We're really enjoying your travels. Thanks so much for sending them to us. Be good to see you next month and hope to see a slide show, too. Love, Mary & Eric
