Test Run
Saturday, Sunday & Monday gave us days with some sunshine amongst wind & rain so we took part in much that was on offer to see & do. We walked through the Pisonia forest to Shark Bay, went on the guided island walk all the way around the beach, viewed several presentations on sharks, turtles, ocean conservation & David Attenborough's Great Barrier Reef. Geoff snorkelled on a rainy afternoon amongst turtles, reef sharks & rays under the jetty.
We went on a guided reef walk at low tide to further explore the underwater world around us & saw sea cucumbers, star fish, clams & of course coral. Another morning the bird walk was interesting too - seeing the locals up close & some of their babies - even seagull chicks are cute!
The island is half Research Centre so another tour was of this area with lots of information about some of the exciting research that's going on here including the damage to coral from climate change & ways to eradicate seagulls from this whole Capricoria reef area in order to save more turtles.
