My first thought for the day was that today is the last full day of our holiday and my second thought was that the last of the Arkansas gang would be here today.
No time to be laying around in bed so up and getting organised as usual.... tea made in the coffee pot and downstairs to pick up some food and take back to the room so we can get ready for the day. First thing on my list is to go to the park across the road for some photos as we've been here so many days already and I still haven't done that yet!!
All dressed and ready for the day so down we go and find John and Steph sitting in the lobby. They came outside with us and we wandered over to Court Square which is a lovely grassed area with a fountain and pathways. There were many cute little squirrels running about frolicking and foraging in the sun so of course copious amounts of photographs were taken. Rodd went back to the room to get some crackers and was feeding them trying to get them closer for me to take photos and at one stage we were sitting on a bench and he got one to put it's front paws on his hand as it took the food from his palm..... unfortunately I was on the other side of him and couldn't manage to get a photo!! Once all the food was gone they wandered away and Rodd spotted a family playing cricket so he made his way over and before long he was in position as the wicket keeper. John asked if he was the catcher so I explained cricket to him as best I could! John watched for a few minutes and then he too was involved in the game.... Steph and I just watched and chatted and sometime later I said we'd best head back to see what everyone else was up to.
As we walked back into the Hotel we ran into everyone else and yay.... Karen, Ken, Tommy and Dianne have arrived and also Laura (Dianne's daughter) whom we haven't met yet but you know the saying.... there's no strangers here only friends we haven't yet met!!
They hadn't checked in yet as it was a bit early for that so we all headed out to go to Rendezvous for lunch. Once again a great meal and fun times.... and it's only lunchtime! From here we we went back to The Flying Saucer for a few drinks, and a few more, and the guys all got up and played pool.........Rodd only lost one game!!
After a few hours the others all decided to go back to the Hotel to get checked in and that just left John, Steph, Rodd and myself................. we had a few more drinks and chatted some more then went back to the Hotel to get changed for the night. All the others had already headed off to Silkys so we hopped on the trolley to Beale St.
When we hopped off the trolley and started walking down Beale St we decided to pop into Club 152 for a drink before going to Silkys' because it's a little quieter and we still had a lot of talking to do!!
Well we were just going to have one drink but once we started talking we couldn't stop and one turned into 3 or 4!! Before we knew it it was already after 8 and we had to hightail it down to Silkys to catch some of Barbara's set and meet up with the others!
I'd had a few drinks by now and was definitely in party mode so the minute we walked in there I dropped my coat and bag off with a big "hello" and bounced out to the dance floor dragging Steph and Karen along with me. We danced and sang and dragged some of the others up when they let us... it was lots of fun. Unfortunately we were there late and Barbara stops singing at 9 so pretty soon it was time to move on.
We all stumbled across the road to another bar - next to Rum Boogie, I want to say Mr Handys Tap Room but I may be wrong. I'm pretty sure the only ones to come with us were Lena, Dan, Karen and Ken .... anyway I was dancing and ended up getting called up by the band to dance with them on stage and Rodd joined me up there. He danced a bit then sat down and "air drummed", the drummer asked him afterwards if he was a drummer cos he was pretty good at it!
From there we lost everyone but Rodd and I went into another bar for another drink and dance ........... I have no idea what time we stumbled home, I know we were making our way up Beale St to get the Trolley when Rodd saw a cab so we jumped in that back to the Hotel.
Tomorrow is not going to be fun, we have an 8.30 flight out of Memphis.. It's going to be a long day!!
