We were a pretty tired group as we stepped once again on Australian soil. The plane landed on time at 7 am and we made our way to the immigration line... There must have been other flights just landed cos there was a lot of people in line... We of course went to the Australian/New Zealand passport holders line and using our e-passports got through fairly fast... Didn't take long for our bags to come around the carousel and then it was just straight through the customs line and out into the arrivals hall... All very quick, easy and painless! I think it was just after 8 by the time we were through.
The painful part came when I realised I had to say goodbye to Heather for goodness knows how long... They have 2 days on the Sunshine Coast then are off traveling the world for 12 months. I struggled with the lump in my throat and was told not to cry as my eyes filled and started brimming over!! It's been so wonderful spending this time with Heather and Tim, I will miss my baby girl so very much but am incredibly happy for her having this opportunity.
Rodd and I caught the air train over to the domestic terminal, got checked in, bags sent on their way, through security then made our way up to the food hall for some breakfast, the capsicum just wasn't going to get me through! Our flight was at 10.25 so we didn't have too long to wait, after breakfast we made our way to the gate, we were both really starting to droop, Rodd never sleeps on flights so he must have been feeling awful but of course as is his way he never complains! Unfortunately our flight was delayed for half an hour, then another half an hour so we were napping in our seats when finally the boarding call came. I don't know what I was thinking when I booked our flights all the way from LA to Longreach without a night in Brisbane to recuperate! Originally the plan had been to fly from Little Rock the same morning but thank goodness I changed that and we had the night in LA.
