Once again up at 6.30 and up at the buffet for breakfast before the crowds then sitting on the Oasis deck typing up the blog. As we were sitting there a lady came past and started talking to another passenger, when asked if this was her first cruise she replied "yes" then asked how she was enjoying it she said “ well I'm not really… I’m soooo bored, I just want to get on face book. If I can put up with these sea days I’m sure the ports will be interesting”. Really??? Bored?? Rodd and I have done so much all day everyday and still haven’t done all that is on offer.
Quick stop back at room to drop of the laptop then straight up to the Connextions Bar for morning trivia… we saw the man that had given us a few answers the day before so invited him and his wife to join us… still haven’t asked their names but we keep running into them all over the ship!! Gary and Kaylene turned up about 10 minutes later so we now had a team of 6.. Yay.. Maybe we can get a few more right today! We ended up with 16 out of 20 so quite pleased with our efforts.
Morning tea time now and then Rodd thought maybe table tennis?? As it turned out he didn’t end up doing that and we once again went to Bingo.. Didn’t win anything. I left Rodd there and went to Valeries French lessons and after that found Rodd up on deck 12 playing golf putting. He had run into a couple we’d steered in the right direction back in Sydney ( long story but if we hadn’t given them a hoy they would have ended up walking a very long way in the wrong direction looking for the cruise terminal ). Anyway….. As it turns out he works for Rex, the airline that flys Longreach-Townsville Tuesdays and Thursdays and his wife works for Qantas Link .. Booking accommodation for staff!!! Yes, Rodd is always working!! I went and lay on the pool lounger while Rodd finished with golf and then off for lunch. As it turned out the person that won the golf putting had no idea how to play golf but
the ships deck rolling around up, down and sideways somehow managed to
get the balls in all the right places!!
All day today the ship was really rolling from side to side, was quite a strange feeling, a bit like when you're on a plane and hit an air pocket. It makes it weird when walking up or down the stairs, the floor just rises up to meet you or when you go to put a foot down the floor disappears out from under your feet..... it's like trying to walk a straight line when you're really drunk!! In fact it helps if you've had a few drinks, makes it much easier to deal with the floor moving!!
We then went to the Marquee for the Liars Club which is a game where they have 4 of the entertainers describing the meaning of a word and the audience has to vote the correct answer by way of making noise… a very amusing game but somewhat rude and inappropriate at times considering there were a lot of kids in the audience and a lot of sexual innuendo being thrown around.
From there I went off for a nanny nap and then we had a few drinks at the Connextions Bar listening to the wonderful band. The first people we saw were Gary and Kaylene so we went over and sat with them, they’re a lovely couple and we seem to all get on well. We decided to have dinner together on Christmas night so that will be lovely. Lots of old music and couples up dancing together. The captain does a walk around everyday saying hello to all the guests so we got to shake his hand and got a photo with him.
Dinner time and who should we run into again but Gary and Kaylene!! They had just finished dinner so sat with us for a bit while we ate. After dinner I wanted to go to the Ventriloquist show but Rodd wasn’t keen so we agreed to go our separate ways… the show was ok… she is really talented but her material needs a bit of work!
Rodd and I just couldn’t seem to find each other, we both kept coming back to the room and started leaving notes for each other but somehow just didn’t see each other!! I went back to the Connextions bar where of course I ran into Gary and Kaylene again so I sat with them all night.
Rodd was in the cabin when I went back at around 11pm.

Mum I think it's wonderful the way you both "got so much out of" the cruise experience. One really does need to participate in the various activities which is what you obviously did. Even if I HAD been well enough Frank would never go to Trivia nights, or Bingo or any sort of gambling..let alone deck games! Well, we did go to a Wine Tasting thingo but that was about it! Looking forward to the NEXT blog!
footloose_llr We will definitely do this cruise again in the next few years. It was a wonderful time and would be even better, I think, going back, knowing what we know. Thanks for your comment.
