Ohhhh I really have to get this finished.. time to start planning the next holiday!!
Another up and at 'em this morning... we decided to have breakfast at the buffet this morning. We were seated in the dining area and the lady told us we could help ourselves and then after we'd eaten we could just let her know whether we'd selected continental only, cooked only or a selection of both, all of which were different prices. Ok... sounds easy enough. Rodd wanted a glass of OJ and nothing else... I had a bowl of porridge, 2 pieces of toast and a cup of tea. After we'd eaten the hostess came and we told her what we'd had... toast, juice, tea and "porridge"... ummm total blank look on her face... "you know porridge... arrrrr rolled oats??? oatmeal??" .... talk about a light bulb moment!!!! Grand total $13... plus tip!
Now that I've been fed we can go to Hollywood Studios!!! Out the front we go, just missed the bus so have to wait half an hour for the next one... ohhhh well, we've got all day! Of course we start talking to the other people waiting and tell them all about our trip, everyone is amazed that we get 5 whole weeks "vacation", seems it's not the norm in the States for trips that long! Rodd ended up giving them a few sachets of Vegemite... we always give specific instructions on how it is to be eaten!! I'd love to know if they all end up trying it or if it ends up in the bin!!
Hollywood Studios was great!!! We headed straight for the Tower of Terror, which for Aussies is somewhat like the one at Dreamworld however it goes up and down and up and down a whole lot more that our one. It's also in the dark so you have no idea what's coming when you plunge downwards in the pitch black or shoot up to emerge into the daylight with an amazing view of the park... for a split second before being engulfed in darkness once again. I had tears in my eyes from laughing and screaming so hard when I got off it the first time... we went straight back on the line and did it again... was still great but that first time... when I had absolutely no idea what was going to happen while sitting there in the dark.. that was awesome. Later we walked past and there was a line that went on forever so we did well to get 2 rides back to back in under half and hour!!
We also did Star Tours, which is a 3D type "virtual" ride , twice and Rock n' Roller Coaster twice. The R n R coaster was absolutely awesome... it's a roller coaster in the dark, soooo much fun!! I'm not a huge roller coaster fan... but in the dark it's a whole different world... I mean I think when you can see where you're going you're anticipating the loops and curves and stomach lurching falls.. in the dark... you don't see it coming so you aren't all tensed up waiting. It's so liberating... like being an innocent child again without all the adult hangups and worries!!!
I guess that's why I like the virtual rides so much... I know in my adult mind that I can't fall... can't get hurt but can experience the thrill of flying into space or wherever the ride takes me.
We went into ToyStory Mania.. this was probably the longest wait we had all day.. half and hour I think we were in line. Finally got on the ride, you put 3D glasses on and are in a little cart and you have a string that you pull to shoot balls at targets.. but they're virtual balls... it was a lot of fun.. even if I suck at shooting those balloons!!!
Last thing we did was the Indiana Jones Stunt show.. it was a demonstration of how the stunts in the movie were done. They got volunteers from the audience that played the extras and it was a very entertaining and amusing show. For our American friends that have been to Disneyworld many times..... was there an Indiana Jones ride years ago?? Rodd was there 20 years ago and thinks there was a ride there then?
Anyway....... once again by around 3pm we were both exhausted so made our way back to the hotel on the bus... that's the good thing about staying at one of the Disney Resorts, or in the Disney Resort area, the free shuttles to the parks, all day.. everyday!!
Once again this night we went to the "local" pub area.... had a few rum punches at various places.... at one bar I was looking at the menu and saw they had mashed potato and steamed broccoli as "sides".... yes please!!!! I am soooo missing my vegetables, it seems they just don't serve them here with meals... well not much anyway... everything is served fried.. with fries or other fried "sides".... OMG steamed broccoli.. really...can I??? Please???? The barman looked at me a bit funny when I ordered just that.... but it was soooooo good!!!
I think we got back to the motel at a fairly respectable hour and went into the bar for ... hmmm... yes... a rum punch..... but we also ordered the buffalo wings... they too were sooo good!!! Maybe it was just the 57 rum punches??? ya think???
Tomorrow is Magic Kingdom day.... and we still haven't seen those fireworks!!
