Saturday 18th- we left Peterborough in better conditions than we arrived; sunny and dry, but still cold! Today we woke to more drizzly rain but we hit the town anyway! The town is an old and proud railway town boasting a steamtrain museum and some beautiful model trains at all 4 entrances to the town. We drove out to each one to check them out and take a pic! We spent yesterday exploring the Darling River and National park and checked out the nearby town of Menindee, where Burke and Wills once graced the local pub. We spent yesterday in a practically abandoned town, Silverton, just out of Broken Hill. It used to be a booming mining town in the 1800's before Broken Hill was settled. Our first full day in Broken Hill has been busy, interesting and insightful! We started with a visit to the mine memorial which is a beautiful tribute to miners who have passed away from as early as the 1800's to as recently as 2007.
