We left Kings Canyon on Thursday to travel on the Mereenie Track, a bit of a "back way" to Alice Springs through the West MacDonnell Ranges, which were once as high as the Himalayas but have eroded over millions of years to a become a beautiful red-rock range full of stunning gorges. After such a huge day spent at Uluru we had a lovely sleep in and a lazy cooked breakie. We strolled over to the town square for some boomerang and spear throwing, again run by the Muswellbrook boys. After a long drive from Coober Pedy we finally arrived at Uluru, and it was as spectacular as expected. We set up and settled in then spent the afternoon watching an Aboriginal dance group, who turned out to be ex-Muswellbrook South Public school students! Wonderful!
