Our tourist thing today was a visit to Chamundi Hill, a 1,062 metre hill over-looking Mysore.
At the top is a collection of Temples plus, of course, a collection of shops.
The main Temple is called Shri Chamundeshwari and features a 40 metre high gopuram (entrance way). Chamundi is a Hindu goddess.
Also up here are a couple of other Temples dedicated to Vishnu and Shiva, as well as great views over Mysore proper. It was as a result of coming up here and asking our auto driver, Hassan, a couple of questions that we found out that the Maharajaha's Palace we visited yesterday is only one of three such buildings - you can see the others from the Hill.
All three were effectively taken over by the Indira Gandhi government in 1976, a few years after the last Maharajah died.
After our visit to the Hill we had a quick look through a silk manufacturing operation back in town plus saw incense sticks being rolled by hand by a very patient lady who apparently makes 7,000 of them each day.
