Desley was not feeling well today with some sort of head / chest cold or worse.
Our best guess is she caught it from a little girl who stood on the seat between her Parents behind us on the bus here from Siem Reap - she coughed through the gap between our seats right onto the back of Desley's head for 4 hours or so. Her Mum and Dad didn't seem to notice.
We are leaving here for Phnom Penh tomorrow morning. This time on a 10 seater Hiace Van or similar. It should take about 5 hours......so lets guess maybe 7 hours then.
As today was our last day we called on Borith again to take us back to the Bat cave near Phnom Sampeau.
At this time of year, at somewhere between 5:30 & 6:00 p.m., a massive number of small bats fly out of a cave in the mountain side and head off some distance to a lake where they feast on mosquitos. They return to their cave at around 3:00 or 4:00 a.m.
We have taken video of the bats but the files are way too large to upload here unfortunately. There are some still-shots attached, these showing a very small number of bats exiting the cave - note that the bats in the photos represent maybe one or two seconds worth of the total.
Get this though - they continue leaving the cave at this rate for about an hour.
Someone in a Labcoat has estimated the cave population at 6,000,000 bats.
I was sceptical when I heard this but having seen them now It may well be right.
Our next post will be from Phnom Penh.
Ciao.
