Helllooooo everyone! So, my first blog entry comes from North Goa in India! I haven't much time as in an internet cafe and paying for internet. Unfortunately the picture associated with this blog is not one of my own as we haven't had many opportunities for photo taking yet.
We eventually arrived in Goa yesterday morning (about 14hours after our expected arrival) as the flights got messed up by weather. It's monsoon season here so there are torrential downpours every couple of hours. It's still very hot though which is nice.
So, my initial thoughts of India: I've always wanted to visit this country as I've always considered it to be a very vibrant, busy, colourful place. And, so far, it has more or less lived up to this image. It is odd to see India when everything is so green and lush during the monsoon as I imagined it to be hot and dry and dusty. Something I have already noticed is the complete lack of health and safety in this country. It does make you realise that England is possibly H&S mad! Even little things here like being able to sit on baggage trolleys at the airport and riding motorbikes with no helmet, wearing shorts and flip flops seem to be perfectly acceptable! I'm not suggesting that we adopt this approach in the UK as I'm sure the rate of RTAs is far higher in India than at home and of course there needs to be rules and regulations, H&S policies etc. I'm just saying I like the way everything seems much more free and easy here; the blame culture that exists at home just does not seem to happen here. I like it!
