Caught the train today up to Scotland. Was sad saying goodbye to Chris and Sinclair - hopefully we will see them in NZ soon.

The train journey took 4 hours and we got good views of the English countryside. The highlight was seeing Durham Cathedral - was a scramble for the camera. John couldn't get a park near the station so we walked out and was a quick load into the car on a taxi stand. I think John got more beeps in that 2 minutes than I did in the whole of France!

We went straight to visit John's grandmother who had been allowed out of hospital for the afternoon, thanks to John's aunt and uncle Peter and Milda. Was great to see them and their daughter Catherine too.

Finally got to the farm around 8pm for the big reunion with John's family. We finally got to meet Nina - the girls cousin who is 2 in October. She is gorgeous and very confident - didn't take long to warm up to us all.

We had a birthday dinner for Lauren with a One Direction cake and was a very late night for all!
