Still in Varkala and enjoying the simple life here at my home stay with a great couple a German lady and her Indian husband
This is a town where the staff working in the cliffside restaurants and cafes sleep on the tables, get paid a pittance yet none of them complain, quite the opposite in fact they have a constant smile on their faces, they have no greed, no envy and no anger, they hold the principle that as long as they have enough food to live on they are content.
Went to an Ashram which foundations are based on no religion, no bias for creed or colour for a cultural community event where all ages were represented. I was the only White person there yet people came up to me made me feel welcome spoke to me, offered me food and to top it off there was a music concert with all sorts of wonderful instruments producing incredible sounds.
I'm spending my days with an early morning yoga session, reading, chatting to fellow travellers, having a swim in the sea and eating great food.
Probably stay a few more days before heading north for some long train journeys and a few stops till I get to Hampi(about 700 miles away).
Simplicity, Patience, Compassion

Eamon Hi Ferg the blog is a great way to keep in touch it is lovely to feel the peace and traquillity coming through i your words and pictures _ looking at those pics and reading your words took me back to when dad used to flick through his army pictures - he was based in India (fought in Burma) and although I never really spoke to him about it I know India had a long lasting deeply positive effect on him - as he was a gentle kind refective man ....which was an interesting trait for someone who fought in WWII ........... i will look forward to your posts ferg ....
