After leaving the spiral tunnels traffic on the trans Canadian highway was pretty heavy so I wasn't too happy to do a left turn across traffic so we headed right towards Field. The town was only 25 Kim's away and I wanted to see how far BC was. We continued along with Bret being quite vocal about turning back. When getting to field it was a town that if you blinked you'd miss it! We turned off and drove around looking for something to eat. I knew part of Bret's mood was driven by hunger. We managed to find a cafe that did burgers for $15 each. That's pretty steep even by Canadian prices! Admittedly they tasted fantastic but the cafe had a strange vibe. It was part cafe, part grocery store, part alternative merchandise. While eating our burgers Bret asked where the BC border was insisting that we needed to turn around. The local replied that it was about 10 minutes away. We asked if golden (the next town west) was in BC and they replied "you're in BC now!" The roadworks had taken down the sign to say we'd crossed provinces! Bret told me the smug grin that spread across my face wasn't very nice. I just found it funny that we both got what we wanted.
