FARFRUMWURKEN
We pulled up to the pier right in the heart of town. This area of Schleswig-Holstein is a city with impressive cruisers, ferries to Scandinavia and the Baltic states, sailing ships, boats and a long time maritime history. We all got off about 10:30 for a walkabout with T&J. We went through the historic old town and then on to the shopping plazas that wound their way throughout the downtown core.
We visited St. Nikolai Church that dates back to 1242 and then off to the Holstenstrabe which is one of Germany's oldest and most traditional shopping streets.
Other than some photography and a nice walk we tried for Wi-Fi but found ourselves out of luck even at the old standby Micky D’s, so we headed back to the ship as we had an earlier dinner at the Pinnacle tonight.
These specialty restaurants are a pretty good deal – while the quality of the food in the main dining room has been very good, I do understand the difficulty of preparing meals for 2000+ passengers – The Pinnacle is first and foremost a steak restaurant and they do it well. It’s easier to maintain a quality dining establishment serving 100 people a night than it is in the main dining room – they do a very good job.
Tomorrow’s our last full day on the ship – we’re supposed to be pulling into Copenhagen for about 10:00 a.m. and we’ve planned a walking tour plus maybe the HOHO bus to get us around the main city areas. Weather is supposed to be great with temperatures in the high 20’s with clear blue skies. All the final details for our exit off the ship have been delivered to us so that we can make our way to the Copenhagen airport tomorrow. The plan is that we’ll grab a cab so that we can make it to the airport for our 12:00 p.m. flight.
