Ok so i have totally forgotten what i last wrote on this thing and dont really want to go back through it so will just write about the last week or so!!Well I remember writing about carlas tattoo, which her parents are still blissfully unaware of so shhhh lol Thurs was her bday and we went out for a meal in a restaurant I don't know the name of, it was Mexican all the same and I got my fix of fajitas!! Carla got a free cocktail which I was super jealous of. Oh I forgot to mention…the night we went out for Carls leaving doo (so the previous mon) when we all got wasted on 2 for 1 cocktails, imogen managed to fall down the stairs in fragola and tear her ligament so she was off work all last week but managed to wake up on her bathroom floor more drunk than the previous night!! Shona went home in tears…not 100% sure why but she too was smashed and couldn't see the next day (think that may have been a result of sleeping with the contacts in don't you shona?!) carla and I were not that bad to say the least..im proud of myself I managed to phone the UK for free!!The cocktails however were not a good idea…the tap water here is soooo bad for you and makes you really ill (I think u know what I mean) so anyways the cocktails have ice in the, ice made of tap water so we have all been…rough is a better way of putting it all last week. The 10 hour bus journey to cuenca…not so great!!So thurs we manage to go out again and not learn our lesson about the cocktails. We even went to a club where my vodka and orange was served with cubes of ice…instead of removing the ice I decided to down it so quickly the ice couldn't melt. I actually think it was one of the best ideas ive ever had!!! Had such a great night dancing to regaton!! Ended up goin back to david and jamies with carla and shona and eating pasta at 3 am! Carla couldn't hack it and fell asleep at the kitchen table…suppose she was the bday gal tho!! Friday was a nightmare, up at 6 am to get to work in time L evilll!!! Only to then look forward to a 10 hour bus jouney down to cuenca. We got to cuenca at 7.30 am on sat to realise we didn't have a clue what to do or even where we were and the cuenca gals were all tucked up in bed after yet another night partying!!We ended up wandering round and going to Parque Calderon which is just beautiful, no other way of describing it really!! Went shopping, I bought nothing in fact I found a tv showing the man u game and sat and watched that with Jamie (who hates football!!) I am seriously missing watching English football…never thought I would say that!!Had a bit of a siesta as we were knacked from the bus journey.Went up to turi in the evening which is a town which overlooks cuenca, we just went to the church because the view is amazing, ate salchipapas (sausage and chips) and empanadas. Wandered round the tourist shop who spell their country eeuador…how embaressing!! Me and shona fell in love with our panama hats but they are a total rip off…like $100 for 1!!! That shop was the oddest shop ever, they sold everythin including panada and llama rugs in case ur in need…$500 each…bargain I say!! Needless to say we lived up to the Cuencan lifestyle and partied all night long…not before eating our weight in cake and sandwichs, might I add sarah was by far the piggiest!! So yeah we went clubbing, many of las chicas pulled…we left the club (which took ages with these random card things…too hard to explain how they work, mind boggling if u ask me!!) and met a load of Ecuadorian boys outside who were tryin to persuade us to coe party with them in the end we took a lift with them to the nearest Ecuadorian version of a kababby! They left us there…b******s we had no way of getting home as we didn't know the area and the cuencan girls were with these randoms. Ah well I still enjoyed my pizza…we got a taxi home not to worry!! Might I add…Ecuadorian clubs are a little odd in that everyone dances in couples, like slasa style…bar us lot who were loud, annoying and drunk dancing in the middle of the dance floor and getting a little too excitable everytime an English or gringo song came on!! Especially me and shona with any napa tune!!
The next morning we were supposed to be going to a market out of town but had all ran out of money by this point, couldn't even afford food so figured it would be best to head home. Have to say the nicest people I met in Ecuador were in cuencas bus station I have never known people to be so helpful in all my life. The journey home was dull…I have learnt a life skill though…makes packets of crisps into them little triangle things…well we were doing it with mint wrappers and then flicking them at people when the lights went off. Oh the things you do for entertainment!! We just so happened to be on the same bus as 3 girls we work with from CENIT who put on their party CD so there were dancing away on a bus full of miserable Ecuadorians…Mailan was boogying away in the aisle!!
We were totally being watched by the locals which is not what u want when u had your ipod, passport and phone out on the bus. i was s***ting it. no joke people are being ticked off one by one, nat (one of the cuenca girls) was robbed on thebus, emily was robbed putting her key in her door. helen one of the girls at cenit got into a taxi and someone was in the boot (the taxi driver was in on it) and locked her in. luckily she managed to unlock the door and scream the place down so he had to let her go. it so dodge out here, so so dangerous. i hate the fact nothing happened to me yet, im just waiting....
Not alots happened this week, we went to the cinema to see a painted veil (translated to spanish as al otro lado del mundo which actually means the other side of the world...u work it out coz we cant!!) which made me want to go to china...i have caught the travelling bug big style!! to the point where me and sara (a german girl who is also going to city) are going to visit all the cities in the uk!! oh and when we were at the cinema shona decided she wanted some skittles...not an unfair thing to want as there were packets in the display...when she asked the man gave her a funny look and said there display....they dont actually sell skittles just advertise them...this is a f***ing weird country i tell you!!!
Oh yeah there has been like landlides (i think thats what they are anyways) in quito recently and getting anywhere is a nightmare...they cancelled all schools but guess what...i dont work in a school anymore so i still had to go...karma catching up on me for quitting a school!!
thats it for now i think
much love xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
