Hello everyone! I know haven't updated for a while. I am sorry about that, but i really haven't had much to say or talk about. Its nothat i haven't been doing anything, its just i have been doing relatively normal things, which i am sure you really dont wnat to hear about.
Anyway i do know. This last week i have had to say a number of goodbyes, in particular, the girl i worked with, who was at the orphanage when i first arrived, Liz. This was very sad as she is american and so i dont know when i am going to see her next. However, Alexandra, as she lived with Liz, made cakes for her last evening, which where sooo good. Chocolate cake and also apple cake- Mary Ward any Shaftesbury girls! Also, today i had to say goodbye to one of my host brothers. This was equally as sad, as he is going to La Paz and Santa Cruz on business, and wont return before i leave to travel. This, along with the fact that my parents are coming in 2 weeks time, really makes me realise that i have only 3 more weeks in Cochabamba, which is really sad too. I am really going to miss have a proper base and somewhere to call home. However, i am beginning to feel like i want to move on and the orphanage is starting to stress me out.
The kids are still as wonderful as ever. However, they have no respect for us. They play up the whole time, when its only Alexandra and I left in charge, and the language barrier is a slight problem. I must admit though, my spanish has improved enough to be able to tell them off. One thing spanish a level certainly doesn't prepare you for. How to intereact with and teach cihldren. Sure i could have told you all about the European Union and the problems with the enviroment, but how to tell a child not to eat off the floor, or explain multiplication or division- not a chance!
This weekend was good fun. Alexandra and I did some very touristy and cultural acitivites. Firstly, on saturday we went to this amazing house that must of cost millions (of pounds that is). It was built by was of the richest men in the world in the early 20th century. He made his money from the silver mines here and went to live in France having made his money and decided to model the house on Versailles or one of the really amazing Chateaux in France. Everything was imported from Europe or Asia.
Anyway- host brother wants to use the comp so have to go but will carry on where i've left off.
Bye for now xxxxxxxxx
