After a bit of a slow start we packed up the trailer and headed for the Ksan village. It was a bit disappointing. It was just five long houses, which you couldn’t go into unless you went on the guided tour, and we didn’t have time to wait around. We walked over to the nearby “Historic” Hazelton, the oldest surviving pioneer settlement in the area (established in 1866) and then got back on the road. Shortly after turning onto the Stewart-Cassiar Hwy we made a quick stop at the Gitwangak Battle Hill, where the warrior chief Nekt set up a fortified village he used to raid neighboring tribes in the 1700s. After that we took a detour down Glacier Hwy to Stewart B.C. The views along the road where spectacular. It lived up to its name. We also saw a bear on the side of the road which means we have seen wildlife every day so far (we saw deer yesterday and the day before). Now we are camped at Clements Lake Rec Site, a lovely spot which luckily we got to first as there was only one good spot for our trailer
