Sailed into Livorno Italy this morning with the group all Pretty in Pink splitting out into the Tuscany countryside for Pisa (Andre and Patricia), Florence (Richard and Yvonne) and Cinque Terre (Jeannie and I) with Mick and JanMarie free styling from Livorno. Cool sunny day traveling through the Tuscan fields to Cinque Terre (went past the Leaning Tower of Pisa) with mountains to the side and clustered hilltop villages. From La Spezia went to Mansora by bus then boarded a boat which took us along the rugged coastline to three of the five Cinque Terre towns ending with Monterosso. Deep blue clear sea and gaily colored boats. All of the brightly colored houses perched against the cliffs and climbing the ravines - cut off by land until a rail was built through the region. The fresh smells of the sea and local bakeries. Well deserved World Heritage listing for the entire Cinque Terre region. Sat outside a cafe in Monterosso for a while with a few local lemon beers and pastries - very relaxing. A good day out but thronged with tourists and locals given it was a Saturday. On the train to the next cliff side town of Levanto then the bus home past Pisa (and the massive marble quarries where for 1000s of years they have been eating away at the hills of marble) with the entire bus gesticulating Italian style at crazy drivers. A good welcoming on board with everyone back from their separate tours and adventures up on deck chatting to the stewards and talking abut where they are from. Said goodbye to Livorno as we sailed out of the port with the theme from Love Boat playing on the ships horns. Another good show on at the Princess Theatre.
