The problem with updating this blog offline is remembering where you left off from the last one, I think we were in the car to Sihanoukville so I will go from there. It took 4 hours without a stop which went very quickly. We stopped briefly at a petrol station to pick up our tickets a rather strange handover!
And then went to the "speedboat", which was at the bottom of the hill lined with bars and restaurants. We arrived about 1:30 and found out our boat was booked for 3 not 2:30 as it said on the itinerary. There it is Asian time again. We didn't mind though as we just took ourselves off not very easily for Hayley who had to carry 18kg on her back. My grown up wheels were great ;)
For a nice lunch with milkshakes. The crossing to the island took 50 mins and was like being on a hydrofoil it was fast and you felt every wave it looked like a ferry. Weirdly they gave locals life jackets but not tourists one for my health and safety project.
When we arrived on the pier instinct moved us in the right direction and the Saracen Bay Resort had sent one porter to pick up our bags - mistake they needed 3 ! I pulled mine across the sand to bungalow no. 3 where we were staying.
The room is basic but adequate. But the view from the bed makes up for it... Wow a beautiful horseshoe bay with a scattering of wooden bungalows. Each clustered together as individual 'resorts' not in the typical sense.
After the car ride we needed to stretch our legs so walked along the bay dipping our toes in the water. Hayley took the role of David Attenborough explaining how crabs used their hands in the snow - I think his job is safe. It was interesting though as we walked over what looked like couscous where the crabs had made little balls to eat - it was on 'The Hunt'.
The sun sets on the other side of the island so guess where we are off to tonight to take photos, just need to make sure we get back before it gets dark as there are lots of lizards, geckos and moths here.
After our walk we came back unpacked freshened up and walked 25m for dinner. The menu has lots of choices Italian, local, salads, burgers so lots to choose from we had a wine, beer, shared a starter and 2 local dishes yesterday and it came to $21
Nb Hayley has won every guess the bill game this holiday!
And then it was time to dodge the geckos work out the mosquito net and retire to bed! Neither of us were bitten in the night :)
We have just watched the sunrise about 6:15 ... Beautiful x
