Today we had another big driving day. We were off to Austria!! Austria is another place I've been really looking forward to visiting. Tonight and tomorrow night we are staying at the Wombat Hostel in Vienna. I'm looking forward to exploring Vienna, but am more excited about visiting Tyrol and seeing the alpine region of Austria. It took us roughly six hours driving time from Venice to Vienna. Our first service stop was at an Autobarn and by far the nicest service stop we have had so far. It reminded me a lot of Cadrona Hotel. The scenery in Austria is beautiful and reminds us a lot of NZ. It was nice to see mountains, green grass and rivers again. The only difference is the buildings. At the Autobarn I bought two magnets - a soft toy skunk and a raccoon. I think they're my favourite things that I've bought so far. They're pretty cute and have been sitting infront of me on the bus. Paul also won me a tweety bird at the second stop in what we would call a kiwi crane at home. We had a quiet night at the hostel. I used the Internet in the bar. I couldn't get the wifi to work again. Then Paul and I went out for dinner. We had a really nice meal at a upmarket pub down the road, on the corner. I opted for a chicken schnitzel since we're in Austria. I really wanted to try some of their dessert because the had some desserts I hadn't tried before, but I couldn't fit it in. Paul said it was the best meal he's had since he's been on holiday (apart from George's Boat). He had those long sausages, filled with cheese and wrapped in bacon. I can't remember what they're called, but he had a couple of those with a side of fries. They served them with a light mustard with onions. After dinner we went back to the hostel to do our washing. You pay €5.50 for a wash and a dry so we just do a light and dark wash once a week (or when we can). Tomorrow we get a day to explore Vienna x.
