Last two days have been good, but long. Woke up and did Angels Landing in Zion. This hike was steep, and the top was pretty crazy with chains and some climbing, but the view was WELL worth it! After finishing up in Zion, we decided to head to Page, AZ to check out the Slot Canyons. Specifically Antelope Canyon. On the way we drove through the middle of nowhere until we came to Lake Powell and a massive dam. Really cool site, but Page itself was a pretty beat town. And while the Antelope Canyon was gorgeous, the Navejo Tribe that owns/runs it, not so gorgeous. They have a policy that you cannot enter the canyon without a guide and a permit. Guide + Permit = $26 per adult. The guide was some teenager wearing a Rockstar energy drink shirt, an LA Dodger hat, and a bandana around his neck. He walked us about 30 yards from their "registration booth" aka shack, and pointed to a crack in the ground where the Canyon started. After that we were able to wander through the Canyon, but only for ~30 minutes. Overall, it was amazing, but the way it is run is insane and WAY overpriced. Hell, I paid $80 for my 1 year UNLIMITED National Park Pass...
So, after our fun experience there, we decided the hell with Page, AZ and trucked on up to Moab, UT. This is definitely a really cool town, with some character and plenty to do. We hit the same campground that I used last time I was in town since it is cheap, clean, and nice. Set up camp, got some ice cream, and decided to go to bed.
Woke up early this morning and headed to Arches National Park. Ran through the gauntlet of all the major Arches - Delicate, Pine Tree, Tunnel, Landscape, Double O, Window, and Double Arch. It was great to see this park in the Spring, so much greener than Fall, and we got around very easily. The views were great!
After two or three days of hiking we decided we'd hit the brewery and sample the local beers. Good beer, good food, good times. To relax, we also went to check out Hole N The Rock. Some guy way back in the day blasted out a home for himself in the side of a giant sandstone, was short and fun.
Relaxing the rest of the day for now. Hoping to get a jump in at Skydive Moab in the AM before we head off to Colorado. Gonna do the Coors Brewery Tour, hang out in Boulder and catch up with Simpson and hopefully LEVI!
