Day 70 27/0802013 Burra SA to Robinvale VIC.
We were up before the sun. It was clear and crisp and there had been a very heavy dew. Just as well we had brought our chairs inside overnight. Everything outside was quite wet, including the canvas, of course. This is the first time in a very long time that we have packed up wet canvas! Our route today took us through the heartland of the Murray River wine and fruit growing regions; Renmark, then Mildura and finally a small town called Robinvale, which has a lovely riverside campground.....we have stayed here twice before. It is a well-kept caravan park with lovely grassed sites. We stopped for coffee in Renmark......would you believe in Maccas!!! First time in months. Then we bought ingredients for lunch in Mildura and we stopped by the river to make and eat it. Unfortunately we inadvertently parked near an ants' nest, which Dave discovered in an unpleasant manner!!!
We didn't have a long driving day today and arrived in Robinvale around 2.30pm. We made use of a car wash in town to give both our vehicle and camper trailer a good clean. Most of the red dirt is off, but we estimate that at least four more high pressure washes might be necessary......and that's just the outside!!!! Showers for us were next on the agenda and then as the sun was setting, a glass of wine and some cheese and crackers went down very well. We are getting closer to home.....not long to go now, and today we are back on Eastern Standard Time! It is a reasonably warm evening and we are still comfortable sitting outside at 8pm.
