Day 3 22/05/2013 Sturt NP Lots of heavy rain and wind during the night! Puddles everywhere this morning! Stepping on the ground resulted in very muddy shoes AND feet!! What to do?An advisory sign stating 'Road Closed when Wet', meant that we couldn't do the self-drive tour around the park we had been planning for today. Day 2 21/05/2013 Bourke to Sturt NP- Mt Wood campsite.It was not particularly cold overnight due to heavy cloud cover; and with it the promise of rain today, also tomorrow, according to the weather forecast. Day 1: Today wasn't a day to stop and smell the roses. We wanted to cover as much ground as possible, so that we could cut back and travel less Km each day from now on. It was a beautifully sunny, but chilly, morning as we pulled out of our driveway at precisely 7am. We took the New England Highway first and then turned off to the Golden Highway, the main route from Newcastle to Dubbo. This road passes through a wheat belt...hence its name. Well we got one last look at the ocean after all. Little brother of the Birthday Boy was unwell, so the Zoo excursion had to be postponed. Nevertheless a movie and then birthday cake at home, seemed to please Master Four. We are now fully packed and ready to go! Early start tomorrow.

D-day minus 2! Had a long, last look at the ocean this morning....until we get to Darwin that is! (And what a beautiful morning it is). Packing is almost done....just doing those last minute things....oh and going to the Zoo tomorrow for a small person's 4th birthday! The outback is calling!
