Our day began with the arm of Talari's glasses completely falling off. It had come off a few days earlier and we glued it in the hopes it would last the trip but no such luck so off to the optometrist we go. They are quick to check the arm and declare them unsavable!! $?@@&.$/?.!,$. Okay, luckily they can do glasses here with a 1 hour turnaround including eye examination. Unsure of how expensive this might be we book Talari in and go ahead.....she has to be able to see right!!! Anyway, 1 hour, lunch and an ice cream later we head back to pick the newbies up and find the price to be most reasonable, especially for a 1 hour service. Phew, crisis averted and on with the show.....

Seaworld in San Diego was a welcome change from the rides and lines. We arrived to an overcast but warm day and began by having tiny fish nibble our fingers!!! Well, I did...Talari kinda did and Sisi ...just simply couldn't!!! She did try but kept squealing before the fish even touched her properly. While at the park we decided to skip the few rides they offered (luckily, due to weather a few were closed anyway) and stick to the displays and shows.

Our first show was the Sea lions. The pre show comedian was very clever but by the time the show started it was beginning to drizzle. As we watched, Wess eventually decided to head off and buy us ponchos at the shops which was great as we were starting to get a bit too wet for comfort. The sea lions and 1 otter were really funny and clever. They fetched, raced, played with a ball, talked and danced.

We also watched the dolphin show which was graceful and quite beautiful to watch. The dolphins performed tricks which were told to them from the side of the pool and off they went. Each dolphin had a specific trainer they went to who would chat to them, rub them and use hand signals to direct them. It is quite mind blowing how they can train these animals to do specific actions based on a signal or word. During the show we were also treated to an acrobatic show by folks up on high swings and high divers.

The headline act at Seaworld San Diego is Shamu the killer whale and for good reason. The killer whales were incredible. They are absolutely huge but behave like puppies, splashing, rolling over for rubs, jumping and splashing everyone. For such large animals they were quite graceful and after sliding completely out of the water to receive hugs, rubs and treats they would simply shift their weight and gently slide back in again to swim and jump some more. They were definitely my favourite show and we went back in the evening to watch them again in a night performance with lights followed by fireworks.

While at the park we also went to a performance by Marty, Gloria, King Julian and the penguins from Madagascar fame. It was quite funny and Sienna in particular loved bopping along to the songs.

Apart from the small amount of rain which cost us the price of 4 ponchos it was a great day. The arenas were huge so seating was never a problem, we were able to rest our feet a little bit and it was a bit cooler. Another late night though!!!!
