Early start, taxi picked us up at 5:45 this morning to head to Adelaide airport for the flight to Sydney. Now it's real...woo hoo, look out America, here we come. We grabbed some brekky at the airport after a really easy and quick check in and then the waiting began! Finally we boarded and headed off. Luckily we didn't have luggage to worry about in Sydney so we just used their Wifi and checked out the duty free while we waited for the 'real' flight. Just after 1pm we finally left Australia and settled in. Talari and I finally got to watch Divergent which we loved. Sienna watched 4 movies, some partly, before finally falling asleep. Both girls managed a few hours sleep while Wess and I dozed for a bit. Sienna found it most amusing that when we landed July 26th was just starting all over again!!!
We picked up our car, "head to row 4", the guy at the counter said, so we did. "Pick any car you like" the next guy said, "any from row 4!" Well alrighty then....we chose a black Chevy Captiva. Phew, so glad Wess is driving....OMG, I'm finding it hard just sitting on the 'wrong' side let alone trying to drive!! Wess managed to get us to our accommodation, but as we were early we parked the car and headed off for a walk. Wow, it is hot!!! Loving it, goodbye chilly Clare, no more winter for us this year. Off came the leggings and on with sun dresses!!! Our room is good, big beds, big bathroom, plenty of space.
After check in, we decided to catch the metro out to Hollywood for a few hours to make sure we all stayed awake. The trains are easy to figure out and we are about 5 stops from Hollywood Boulevard so the trip is easy. Wow, what a street. So much colour, noise and creativity. We loved all the street performers and had a few photos with some as well as checking out a few stars on the walk of fame and the front of the Chinese theatre.
Madame Tussaud's was calling.....after all, their new display is Taylor Lautner and Talari had a date with a star!!! The wax figures are so realistic and you can touch them and pose with them to your hearts content (apart from touching their face and hair), so we did. The girls especially summoned their inner diva or Hollywood starlet and had a great time in front of the camera. Quite a few times, we apologised for getting in someone's way, or bumping someone only to find out they were wax!!
By late afternoon, we were all beginning to feel a bit sluggish and decided it was time to head back on the train. Pizza seemed like the quick and easy option, eaten while sitting on our beds and having a quick look at what tomorrow would bring. We all managed to shower and fall into bed after a very long but fantastic first day. After all, we needed our energy, day 2 was planned as Universal Studios day!!!
