"Back to Scandinavia?"
Koh Samui is the biggest of the three islands we visited on the eastern coast of Thailand. There is really not much to say about it, except that it is like any overpopulated tourist island. Expensive, full of tourists, and way too many bars. To get to our guest house, Among Guest House, we had to walk more or less through a cabaret, which at night was packed with LadyBoys. The beach was very nice, and we bought a miniature american football to play around with. It was a lot of fun, and satisfied with having a great day at the beach, without being sunburnt, we sat down at a quiet beach restaurant to enjoy a small, expensive bottle of beer(2 USD). Koh Samui is famous for the airport, which is located so that the airplanes take off right over the main Beach, a two kilometer stretch of white beach, called Chaweng. When chilling on the beach, you can more or less see the people inside the large airplanes roaring over your head waving the island good bye. When the sun set we headed into town to get some dinner. For lunch we had found a place that was used by locals and had reasonable prices. The food was good, and their fruit shakes the most refreshing ones I have ever tasted. Other than this, there is not much to say about the island. Walking back to the guesthouse, through the masses of LadyBoys made me want to stay inside my room the rest of the night, so I did. Paul stayed out to play some pool.
The next afternoon we got on the bus and boat to the mainland. More specifically, Surat Thani.
