So on the 15th Jan we plucked up the courage and drove our motorcycles to the secret hotsprings in Pai with all the guys from Spicypai hostel... I was the only girl driving a motorbike, all the others rode as passengers... quite proud of myself as it was one proper hard drive, first on what was like a motorway and then we went on to an off road dirt track which was really steep hills going up and down for at least 30 minutes, really thought one of us was going to fall off! Never been so scared lol!
Made it there in 1 piece and it was definitely worth the ride, the place was beautiful and the water really warm... covered ourselves in the mud and chilled out till we went pruney... getting out was tough as it felt freezing when you got out of the pool. Sat around a small fire warming up before we had to get back on the motorbikes and make the scary drive back again... drive home was much easier and me and Liam went along at our own slow pace taking in the scenery. Got back to Spicy, chilled out in the hammocks and then got ready for the hostels own "full moon party" (we had all been invited to a local village one but it was about 90 mins away and hassle to get too so spicy threw one for us instead!).
We got a lift into town (3 on a bike) had some yummy streetfood from the market, stocked up on samson rum, redbull and coke from 7/11 and then joined in the partying. Word Got out it was officially Liams bday at 12am and the guys did a big countdown, picked him up and carried him around the campfire singing, then he had to down a load of drinks which got him very very drunk! Painted ourselves with glowpaint and headed out to bamboo bar to continue partying with everyone. Danced to drum and bass all night and then did the 20 minute walk into town for a drunken food stop from 7/11, ate our microwaved pizza and crisps and crashed into our bunkbeds!
The next morning was officially Liams birthday so we got up early and went for another ride on our motorbikes to see some of the countryside and feed the elephants. Got back around lunch time, said our goodbyes to one of the guys who was going to Hongkong, took our motorbikes back to the hire company and grabbed some disappointing lunch. Walked to fluid where we spent the rest of the afternoon lazing around the pool and then headed to town with everyone to look around the market and eat more streetfood. We also decided to go back to Changmai a day early, so booked the bus for the next day. Spent the last evening in the big treehouse at Spicypai listening to people playing guitar, chilling with a Chang and chatting.
On 17th we got up late, packed our bags, had some brekkie, ran into town so I could get a hairbraid and then got the bus back to Changmai at 2pm. Luckily no-one was sick this time. Arrived back in Changmai at 5pm, went to Spicythai to book the slowboat to Laos with Karina, found my lost shoe under my old bunk and headed to our private room in MD house. Its horrible, theres a loud chinese family opposite who wont STFU, wifi doesn't work and we had the aircon on last night so we both woke up today feeling like crap. We laid in bed till 1pm, got dressed and after id been sick twice managed to make it out to the temple on the hill, took some photos, came back had some amazingly yummy food from the hawkers (Liam - Thai green curry & chilli beef stifry / Lucy - chicken tikka massala). Grabbed a chang to wash it down and a Nutella and banana pancake and headed home to watch the Arsenal game and grab an early night as we have a 5 hour bus to the border of Thailand/Laos tomorrow.
Peace
