This morning we had to wake up bright and early to catch the awesome adventure bus to the harbour! We got on the boat and began our journey up north through the long line of paradise islands... 4 and a half hours later we reached our first destination; Safe Landing Resort on Nacula Island! It was amazing! A small family run resort right on the beach, it was very quiet and tranquil but the beach and sea was amazing. We had a warm singing welcome from some of the staff as we got off the small boat and went straight for lunch. Our room was a 6 bed bure with views of the beach. That afternoon we took the boat trip to the Blue Lagoon, the beach here was idyllic and the waters were great for snorkelling, so blue and clear! No extraordinary sea life but plenty of fish! Got back to the resort and saw the chefs preparing dinner... Fish and chicken wrapped in leaves and cooked in a hole in the ground! Was delicious and tasted smoky! Before dinner however we had a short walk to a higher point on the island to watch the sunrise, not quite as good as Gili but still nice! The evening was pretty chilled just had the yummy dinner and then the resort put on some dance entertainment, was actually really good! Then they dragged us up to join them dancing before hitting the sack pretty early!
Day two in Safe Landing was a serious chill day! Got woken up by the horn at 8am for breakfast but then headed right to the beach and fell asleep within minutes... Unfortunately it had gotten rather hot whilst we'd been asleep so faces were a tad pink when we woke up! We had a lie in the hammocks and read some of our books before lunch. Then tried one of the free activities... Coconut jewellery making and made a cool bracelet! Then the time came for an afternoon of tea and cake at the travellers tea house ! A local Fijian couple ran the cafe and we had banana and chocolate cake overlooking the ocean. There was some local boys playing into sea and we witnessed a 5 year old catch a fish with his bear hands... That's dinner sorted! That evening we had another delicious dinner, this time it was 3 courses! Totally unneeded but enjoyed all the same! All the other guests went to bed around half 8 so me and es sat with all the staff and drank Kava; their national drink which pretty much looks a tastes like dirty water! But when in Fiji ! The staff were celebrating as they had been granted a loan of 1.2 million to help expand the resort :)
The next morning we were invited to attend the church service in the village as it was Sunday! Turns out we were the first tourists to ever have been there, quite cool :) the service was long and spoken all in Fijian, but the priest gave us a welcome speech in English am involved us throughout! It ended with some songs and a dance which was nice! Then we just had to sit around and wait for the boat... Next stop Barefoot Resort!
