Today it's off to Rome!!! After class Tori, Kyrie, Danielle and I went to print off our tickets and headed straight to the metro to start our trek all the way to Beauvais airport. Our friends had gone there the weekend before when they went to Barcelona and warned us how difficult it is to get to. So luckily they gave us all the instructions/metro stops and shuttles to take which was a big help. We were worried we'd get lost since we always do but we ended up making all the right stops on the metro and got to the airport shuttle bus with some time to spare. The bus left at 6:30 and would get the airport at 7:45 giving us plenty of time before our gate closed at 9 for the flight. Except of course we couldn't get there with zero problems hah. The bus ended up hitting super bad traffic and we didn't make it to the airport until 8:45! We had been talking to an Italian lady on the bus who was on a different flight and as soon as we got off the bus she looked at us and said "RUN!" haha so Tori and I booked it off the bus, swiped our luggage, and went running in the pouring rain towards our terminal which was of course all the way down the road. I had my wheelie luggage and with all the dips/puddles everywhere it was not working out with the whole RUN deal so I threw it on top of my head. Quite a sight for tori to see when she looked back and I was splashing up water everywhere with a gigantic bag of luggage on my head. Oh well we made it with about 5 minutes to spare! We ran up to security but of course we couldn't go right in because we weren't from Europe so we needed to go get a special stamp. So we ran to the line for that and then back to security basically throwing our passports at them and ripping off our purses/jackets to be checked. After all the craziness we were on the plane and off to Rome!! Yayy!! As soon as we landed it made the whole trip fiasco worth it. We found the bus that stops near our hostel and the workers were sooo nice and told us good places to go and eat and stuff. We met Sam and Jack at the hostel, which was more of a hotel that was very old fashioned and had one of those old school elevators. Turns out Tori, Sam, Jack and my room was in a totally different building so the guy working the desk took us on a walk; more luggage lugging hah. After a little elevator confusion (since t doesn't stand for "topen" as tori thought) we were all settled into our room and ready to go explore Rome! (even though it was like 2:00 in the morning). The twins had a friend from home that was also in Rome with his study abroad group so we went to meet them at their hostel. We obviously made our next task to find food so we wandered the streets knowing we had seen a McDonalds somewhere and figured it would be open. But I guess we forgot we weren't in America so that was a fail. After talking to some locals we found a place with paninis open so got those and then headed back to get a good rest because we wanted to wake up super early for our first real Rome day!
