In the morning, everyone was hanging and so we agreed we would just hang out by the pool until our bus to Pai came at 4. Before we could even make it to the pool, the heavens opened and it bucketed it down with rain. We endured it for amount an hour before agreeing that the only way we would feel better was to find a McDonalds. So into a tuktuk we got and made our way into the centre to locate our McChicken sarnies. There wasn't a shred of guilt between us - we needed our greasy treats. After that, we felt a lot better so went for a little shop to purchase ponchos, however Gemma decided that she hadn't had enough drama from the night before and proceeded to fall down a flight of slippy steps on her derriere. We discovered that Charlotte isn't someone to have around in an emergency as she simply laughed (it was admittedly very funny) in Gemma's face before asking if she was OK. Luckily only pride was damaged and a couple of bruises after, we were back in the tuktuk to the hotel. Still hungover we weren't very impressed that the bus was an hour late picking us up, and then was only the transfer to the bus station. After what felt like forever, we were finally en route along the windiest and hilliest roads we had encountered. Unfortunately the previously purchased ponchos didn't last long as Charlottes hangover got the better of her as she was forced to use it as a sick bag. After a transfer into the front of the bus, we were back on route to Pai.
We found our hostel/hut around 10 minutes from our drop off and lugged our rucksacks there. It really was just a hut with 2 rooms with a partition curtain down the centre. It was cute, but we knew we were going to be bitten alive.
We went to the nearest restaurant to the hut which was really cool and enjoyed some curry and banana in coconut milk for dessert. I experienced my first big spider as one nearly dropped into my hand. Little did I know that wouldn't be my last spider encounter in Pai.
