So where to start? Let me take you back to London, England. Albert arrived for our travels with 15.7kg of luggage with him. (We have a 10kg limit for some flights!!!!). This brought on operation shrink Alberts luggage. This meant no trousers, including the baby blue chinos, only one of his three pairs of shoes, and one of his two wash bags. He did however win the argument over the rugby ball and pump, his moisturiser, and a stuffed purple Ribena toy.
After a pleasant journey out to Bangkok, we jumped in a taxi to Kho San Road. For those of you that have read my previous two blogs you may remember that a night out in Bangkok usually consists of drinking multiple buckets, buying ridiculous bracelets with inappropriate writing on and ping pong shows. This night was pretty much the same as that. 4 buckets each mixed with some street sellers meant that we woke up with both inappropriate bracelets and some stupid hats. The bracelets read the following:
Josh - UP BUM NO BABY
Albert - SAVAGE MY ANUS
Rosella - LONG HAIRY FLAPS
As with last year, we did not pick our own and the rule is that we have to wear them for the full trip.
One thing that Rosella decided we had to do this year was eat a scorpion........ At no point did I think we would actually do it. In fact, when offered we actually turned the scorpion salesman away but when two 19 year old girls next to us said yes straight away we felt we had no choice but to man up. I'd like to say that they tasted like chicken but actually tasted like chewing through some overcooked barbecue ash. Delicious!!
The next morning we woke up feeling a tad under the weather but got up and headed to MBK (the 7 floor shopping centre with air con). Albert and I dropped off Rosella at a bench to sleep and headed to do a bit of retail therapy!
That evening we grabbed some dinner and headed to a bar for a couple of hours before catching an over night bus. This casual drink ended up with Albert and I drinking a couple of buckets each and playing drinking games with imaginary cards! A quick visit to 7-11 on the way to the bus also meant us grabbing a bottle of whiskey each for the road.
After collecting tickets for the bus we headed to the bus stop and on this walk is where we met Eddie, a French guy who had been in Thailand for about an hour. He ended up sitting next to us on the bus and Albert and I decided to corrupt him. He popped to 7-11 to grab a beer or two and then shared some whiskey with us. This party bus was not very "party". In fact everyone else had planned to catch up on some sleep. This meant us seriously annoying a lot of people, especially when Eddie, Albert and I were singing Daniel Powter - Bad Day out loud at ridiculous o'clock. Whoops.
When we arrived at the port at 5am we had two hours until our ferry to Koh Phagnan. What else did we have to do other than grab a couple of beers each and play some drinking games?
We boarded the boat, carried on the singing and learnt some naughty French phrases from Eddie. He was pretty good banter for a French lad. Anyway, other than Rosella not enjoying the boat journey and vomiting it was a quiet first 36 hours in Thailand.
We have now arrived at Koh Phagnan for the Full Moon Party in a couple of nights time which means the Coral Bungalows pool party tonight. This is where we are staying for the next few nights and so are off to bed for a few hours before getting ready for tonight. Let the partying begin!!
Hope everyone back home is all good.
