We left Bordeaux a week ago (after a quick visit to the wine museum) to go down river to Royan where Lagoon had a few bits and pieces to fix up on the boat, including a mysterious leak - of course! All of that has gone well and we are now waitingj for a weather window to cross the notorious Bay of Biscay. We all had our first experience of handling a new boat and navigation system along the river - very different to Chat Eau Bleu. Peter made an excellent job or docking us in Royan including two moves to get the right power on.
Royan was completely flattened during the war so not may old buildings left in the main part of town. The cycle ways are lovely with their own little tree lined boulevardes. No one wears helmets and no one behaves as rudely, agressively or dngerously as our Brisbane "Lycras". We are very happy with the e bikes we have, really zippy - almost too assisted! You can turn them off....
Peter is enjoying the French food - so time to go!

Mark In my local supermarket they were blaming the sudden shortage of Bordeaux wines on a huge unexpected increase in consumption in the Bordeaux area, but apparently things are getting back to normal.
