I will write about Cambodia, as Im not sure what I last wrote about and I can't be bothered to read through my dribble! Will have to write notes, as Josh is upstairs drinking on his own!
Siem Reap-Arrived late from night bus, tuk tuk took us to hostel, next day we met Rach and Geoff then got lunch and headed to a floating village. Very poor, but interesting. People live on the river to avoid paying house tax. There is an orphange there for the children whose parents die on the lake.
Lots of children begging which I struggled with a bit. We have been giving them lollies as locals said not to give money, it goes to their parents and then they dont send them to school if they can get money begging. So hard to see.
Two days at Angkor wat, really amazing. So many temples all over the place and very beautiful. Not as touristy as we thought it would be. Again, lots of children begging :( Took millions of photos of the same thing! Me and Rach tried to get creative with our 'in front of another temple' photos. Results are interesting, more interesting that the temples in fact! Me and Josh gave blood and enjoyed the free coke and crackers! We went to a show in the evening, me and Rach loved the dancing, Josh and Geoff loved the buffet food, everyone left happy!
On second day, We did angkor wat, then me and rach got a massage (not a sexy one!) and we had mexican! At 11pm we got the night bus to phnom penh and arrived at 5 in the morning.
Saw the killing fields with rach and geof then they left for the airport and me and josh did the s 21 museum. Pretty horrific and found it a very hard day. Can't even imagine the horrors that happened in this country but going there certainly helped. So so sad for such a beautiful and friendly country.
Me and Josh did some shopping this morning in phnom penh and arrived at battanbang this afternoon. Went on a bamboo train, very scary! Then a guy from out hotel who wanted to practice his english took us on a tour! He wants to be an english teacher and was trying to get tips! He also tried to persuade me to stay and teach here, he said he could find me a job and I wouldnt have to go home! Very tempting! I love it here so much!
Tomorrow we're crossing into thailand and then to koh chang to meet rachel, who is leaving Geoff in bangkok to try and sort out his passport. That boy is a nightmare!
Missing home lots and very tired of all the buses! Feel like we spend a night somewhere and then have to go, will be happy for some relaxation by the sea! Can't wait to get home and catch up properly.
