we got to Da Lat and to be honest when we first saw the town we were quite dissapointed. exept for the big lake in the middle its quite a boring place with none of the views or exitment of sapa or mcloud ganj. however we did warm to it a bit more.
after consulting the holy bible that is lonely planet we found that the only way to see anything good in these parts is to hire a moto. and so we did....with me as the easy rider of course.
the next day we set out on our adventure. we first went to this huge resivour type thing which is rediculously impressive and much better than i made it sound by calling it a resivour (thats what they called it). it looked like what i would imagine parts of canada look like where you are in a forresty area overlooking all this water. at the top was a pagoda that was really peacefull and gave great views over the resivour. to get to and from the lake/pagoda you had to go over a really long cable car that took to over a large hill and over forest untill it all appeared it was really quite cool.
after this we set of to datanla waterfall which we were told was only 200 m further than the turn of for the cable car. so of we went and after 200 meters thought they must have said 2 km so we caried on and still no sigh of it. we then headed back to see if we had missed it but it wasnt anywhere. we then saw another couple that looked western or at least helpfull.....or not. they didnt know where this place was. so we decided to just carry on down the road and eventually saw a sign sayin dalatal waterfall 5km....thanks. we eventually got there and guess who else turned up just ahead of us....bloody useless people we asked 10 mins ago. anyway to get to the waterfall you could either walk or go by rollercoaster.....oh yes we went by roller coaster and it was bloody ace! the waterfall was very pretty at the bottom and even had model tigers and eagles around it to pose with.
after this it was about 4 or sumet n started raining so we set of back to the town. on the way we ended up going to this big gardens thing that if honest neither of us cared bout but we needed summet to fill the time.
next day we got the bike again as we still had half a tank left after filling it the previous day however we found the dirty sh*#s had drained the petrol. presumably so they could use it or most likely sell it. anyway that day our first stop was the lurrrve valley. or cheese valley. there were lots of youngs couples and newly weads there and the whole experience made me sick however we both got through it with a healthy dose of abuse. there were plenty of heart shaped swings and things and it was all very cheesy. they obviously took advantge of the men paying for the dayes as the shops were were chrging about 3 times the price of anywhere else for a drink.
after this we headed to the old train station where it is possible to get the one carrage train to a local village. when we got to the station we found the train wasn't running and if it was it was 120,000 dong (too much) to go. We then found we could just ride here ourselves so we did. it took about 45 mins and really wasnt worth the effort however the ride took us through a few towns and gave us great mountain views so it was ok.
we then headed for the emperors pallace which was quite good.It was very hard to get to as you had to take some random side path that if you go to far (which we did) goes through some verry small village and leads too a big cemetary...nice.the pallace was full of rich people stuff and for some reason you had to where paper shoes over your shoes.
we finished the day at some nice place by the river to have a drink. we also got a snack at the stragest cafe ever. its beteen lots of not nice village and it has a huge tree growing on the building with lots of rabbits and scary looking things all around it like alice in wonderland.
After two days we had seen everything we wanted o see and the town is beyond crap for wasting a day in so we set of to siagon.
