14th - 18th July 2008: Ok, it seems like forever since I was in Jaco (it´s now the end of August!) but I will do my best to remember what it was like. So, after saying goodbye to the rest of our group in San Jose (and enjoying a scrumptious last supper, with real bread and everything!), Jen, Hayley and I decide to head to Playa Jaco for a spot of relaxation before carrying on our respective ways (Jen is off to New Zealand via America, Hayley to Cuba and Nicaragua, and myself to go and work with turtles for 5 weeks...can´t wait). So, we head out into the big bad world on our own, without Steve to hold our hands and translate for us. We (by we I really mean Hayley) get our tickets for the bus and in 3 hours we´re in the beach resort of Jaco. It´s sweltering but the beach is pretty, so long as you don´t look backwards to see all the building work and high rise apartment blocks! But, it has lots of places to eat, and after discovering an amazing ice-cream shop, the majority of our meals are liquid based from then on (who can refuse a nutella ice-cream milkshake for breakfast? Not me). From what I can remember, I basically just ate and slept alot here. I didn´t even go surfing, which is criminal considering Jaco is one of the most popular surf spots in Costa Rica. Oops. On our last night there we meet up with Maire from our first trip, and her brothers who are all staying here for a weekn or so. Eat more great food and then we head back to San Jose in the morning.
