First train ride in India, pleasantly surprised! Not too different from the UK but with tea and coffee! Did however see the cattle class section when we got off, which was exactly that, lots of people packed into small carriages behind barred windows! Got to hotel number 2, more luxury, not sure I can get used to this, strangely I preferred the tents and dodgy hotels in Nepal, feels more authentic. Afternoon was spent walking into the local village, which was chaotic, but interesting to see how many vehicles you can fit down a tiny street!! We then got lost trying to get back to the hotel (basically we walked straight past the hotel and then got confused when we didn't recognise our surroundings) doh!
Pm we were shown around Agra Fort, which was pretty impressive. Then took our first rickshaw ride, which was a heady mix of sights, sounds (mainly beeping) and smells, to take a boat ride to see the Taj Mahal at sunset. Didn't quite get sunset, but first close up view of Taj was amazing. Also saw a cremation from afar and a celebration involving fire (yes I know not a very intellectual description!!) Very different here to Nepal with regards to people (mainly children) trying to sell you things, everywhere you go you get approached, and they have the "puppy dog face" off to a T, very difficult to resist but managing so far!
Evening meal and a few beers later on. Whilst at the restaurant there was a guy selling puppets (too scary for me to buy one, same category as clowns), but he showed us his 2 metre moustache, which he neatly coils behind his ears. I would question the length, let's say more a mans 2 metres so perhaps 1.5, but still pretty impressive!!!
Thought I'd add a comment for Kerrie, it appears I'm no longer tidy, my current roomy Cathy has already commented on my ability to spread everything I have across our hotel room!!!!
