Emma's Adventures
So I have been totally slack at updating my website! So much so that I have a lot to tell you and a lot of new photo's. What is the news...well...I have a new job which started in July - I am HR for a Financial services company, they are pretty entertaining. About to move into a new apartment by the harbour - it is a lovely apartment. And here is a short synopsis of my trips since July! Yes it has been that long.
Queenstown: End of July we went down to the famous Queenstown for the start of the ski season. Have to say the snow was not that impressive, but it has been a mild winter. Jason had his first ski lesson and did very well. As there wasn't much snow, we went sightseeing for the rest of the trip...quant Arrow Town, Wanaka a 4x4 off roading trip - it was awesome.
Bay of Islands: Back in...hmmm...let me see August, we went up to the Bay of Islands for a Jazz festival. The music itself was great, the Bay of Islands stunning and is famous for it's amazing coastal scenery, it is also the sight of NZ's first permanent English settlement, so lots of historic landmarks.
Turoa: Mid-August I went on a girl's ski weekend to the Turoa in the north island. More snow than the south island which apparently was unusual. Unfortunately no photo's as my camera batteries died, but stunning views from the top of the mountain. Still can't get over skiing on an active volcano! A good weekend was had by all!
Whakapapa: By the way the WH is pronounced F - I know some of you will find that amusing! Anyway, end of August, Jason and I went skiing at Whakapapa, it was basically spring skiing, so warm we didn't need jackets. One the way back we stopped off at a Kiwi house and I saw a live Kiwi for the first time. They are an endangered species due to the all the mammals that have been introduced to NZ in the last 100+ years.
Nearly up to date: Last weekend Jason and I went down to Wellington and over to Grey town - where Jason is from. As you may have read from my previous postcard - Wellington is a great city, and I can say this as most people I know here are not from Auckland, but Wellington is a lot nicer that Auckland! We went over to Martinborough and went to some great vine yards - bought too much wine! We had a great weekend with Jason's family and met his new niece.
Well that is all my news. Write soon and let me know how you all are.
Love
Em
(PS I am missing London).
