Emma's Adventures
Hey all
I am now back in Vancouver, but before I tell you all about my first Ice Hockey Game (Lets go Giants), I will update you on my trip to Seattle.
When I arrived in Seattle there was talk of a potential drought due to the lack of rain, by the time I left yesterday all worries of a drought were over - it rained all week! But a bit of rain did not stop me sight seeing in cool Seattle - well it stopped Amy and I going to Mount St Helen, the golf size hail stone made us turn back!
Anyway, I managed to do all the good touristy things in Seattle, like take the "Duck Tour" - sight seeing tour on land and lake in a Duck styled vehicle! It was actually very good, did all the major sights of Seattle including the 'Sleepless in Seattle' house boat - my Gran will be pleased! I also went up the Space Needle and saw the awesome (see I am becoming Canadian by using such words) views of the city. The underground tour of Seattle was also interesting from a historical point, however, there wasn't much to see down there except rubble from the last earth quake!
Seattle was a lot of fun, Amy made sure I ate and drank in all the cool districts - Belltown, Capitol Hill, Queen Anne, and lets just say that Amy and I may have consumed one too many cocktails!
So I arrived back in Vancouver yesterday and yes you guessed it, it is raining. In fact it doesn't seem to have stopped in 24 hours! The only positive is that it is snowing in the Mountains = skiing.
Before I left for Seattle I had a couple of days to look around Vancouver, which is a great city. I took the trolley tour - you are seeing a theme here. Did all the major sights and Dot and I ventured up Grouse Mountain one evening. This is a ski run but has beers, o meant bears at the top!!! They were cute but thankfully behind an electric fence.
Last night Dot and Shaf took me to my first ever Ice Hockey game. The National Hockey League players are on strike and the season has been cancelled, so we went to see the Vancouver Giants (Lets go Giants) which are a minor league team who were in the play offs with Kelowna. They needed to win this game to stay in the play offs - they lost! Never mind, it was a lot of fun, I tried to integrate myself with the other hockey supports by joining in with the "Lets go Giants" chant, saying "Ay" after every sentence and drinking, lets just say, some interesting Canadian beer. Sadly no major punch ups on the ice, much to Dot's disappointment, who assured me that it would have really made the experience authentic.
Plans for this week are to do some more touristy things in Vancouver. We are heading up to Whistler on Friday for a weekend of skiing (and no doubt drinking). There is snow up there now, so as far as I am concerned the winter they never had can continue into Spring.
I have downloaded some photos for you to check out, in the meantime e-mail me with your news, "ay".
