Hi everyone! Hope the email arrived and you\'re all actually reading this-dodgy Thai computers! So, yep we\'re in Bangkok-its pretty mad and boiling. After arriving on Mon eve we just wandered from our hotel to Siam Square, had dinner and listened to the entertainment-a Thai band singing English power ballads-random. Today we decided to go sightseeing-intending to go straight to the Grand Palace we actually spent 2 hours being driven round in circles, first by a tour tout and then by a manic tuk-tuk driver who insisted on taking us to stupid stores so he got free fuel coupons-in other words we were totally conned! Won\'t be falling for that one again-my hard face is now on! We did eventually see the Grand Palace (with the lucky advantage of being supplied with the áppropriate\'footwear-beautiful socks and sandals-photos shall hopefully follow when I can work out how to use my connection cable! ), the giant standing Buddha and the Giant Reclining version too-we\'ve been truly spoilt with that particular religious icon... Tonight saw us venturing to the Khao San road-the travellers Mecca-think the Thai version of a Greek island strip-nice and tacky but majorly cheap-all presents should be expected from here...! Tomorrow we\'re planning to sort out our journey up north and probably do a bit more shopping. We\'ve all agreed after the annoying wild goose chase of this morning the shopping provided a much needed endorphin lift! Family: any requests for fake designer gear, get them in quick!
