Hi chaps! just thought Id update briefly...now in Phnom Penh after a much more luxurious bus ride-a real coach and only 4.5 hours! altho did have to stop on a random street corner where people were buying/selling dried cockroaches! Today we went to Tuol Sleng museum which is basically an old school that was turned into a prison during the Khmer Rouge regime where thousands of Cambodians were tortured and killed. It was so depressing-all the cells are intact and the walls are lined with photos of all the victims. Possibly the worst bit were the skulls and bones in glass cases. We should probably get used to them tho as we head off to The Killing Fields tomorrow where the prisoners were killed and buried in mass graves-cheery! We all realised that we know virtually nothing about Cambodia's history and Pol Pot's reign so we all bought books and geeked up on it this afternoon! We head back to Siem Reap on Thursday and then back to Bangkok on Friday before heading down to Koh Phangan for 2 weeks of fun in the sun! Have had word from Katie and she assures us she plans to return so we're all very excited-it feels a bit wrong there being only three of us! Oh and mum, she told me she'd seen you...she said you seemed quite surprised! why didnt you recognise her? so tanned?! hope so!
