The next day in LA I got up early again (at least this jet lag is getting me used to early mornings for when I'm back at work). Yesterday I'd met this Danish girls and two other randoms, one guy from England and another girl from Germany, and we'd all decided to go to Universal Studios together, so I met up with them and we all got on the subway up to Universal.
I'm so sad when it comes to theme parks or anything like that I just act like a child (not that don't normally anyway) and I was so giddy when we went in. First we went on the infamous studio backlot tour of the studios. Universal is actually a real working studio so it was really interesting to see sets used in films. They are so cheap in Hollywood, there'd be like a set of a town and the guy would tell us of about 30 movies which were all shot there from Pirates of the Carribean to Van Helsing, they just keep re-using the same sets which is funny really. Also got to see down Wysteria Lane for all you Desperate Housewives fans. At the time they were filming the new National Treasure movie in one of the studio's so got to see a few of the actors from that hanging around but no-one famous I'm afraid to say. The tour was really cool and has a few little surprise thrown in like King Kong attacking us or been hit by an earth quake.
There were loads of other rides and shows there too, all of which were excellent, and luckily the park was pretty empty so never waited more than 10 mins for anything (you don't get that at Alton Towers!). I liked the Jurrasic Park ride probably the best, of course I managed to get absolutely soaked when we plummeted down the 80 foot water drop at the end, and everyone thought it was hilarious with the water just dripping off me. I was also lucky enough to meet Shrek and Fiona and Sponge Bob Square Pants!
The only problem I had with Universal was the food, but to be honest I found this a problem for the whole of LA. I couldn't get anything to eat other than fast food. I had McDonalds for breakfast, Pizza Hut for lunch and chilli cheese fries for dinner. I was well and truly sick of fast food but there was no other choice, no wonder they're all so fat!
On my final day in LA I went to Farmers Market. LA is so hard to get around without a car, you can't walk anywhere due to the sprawling nature of the city but also you wouldn't really want to walk anywhere, its so true, no-one walks in LA; so had to get a taxi. Farmers Market was lovely though. I managed to buy fruit for my breakfast which was gorgeous! And they had loads of food stalls to wander round and felt like the real America. They even had a doggy bakery which of course I just had to go in and buy Kimba and Megan a litttle treat. I had lunch at this amazing sterotypical American diner complete with red plastic booths. Each table had a little juke box on filled with classic American rock n roll songs and you were given a pile of nickels so had loads of fun with that. Ordered a chilli burger, fries and onion rings and of course cherry coke! Was so good I loved it, wanted a milkshake too but was just so full couldn't man it.
Next door to Farmer's Market is and a lovely outdoor shopping mall called The Grove. So spent a few hours wandering around there, the shops were great. I loved this shop called American Girl Place which was hilarious, a masiive department store for dolls! It had hundreds of doll outfits, a dolls hairdressers, even a doll hospital was mad. Also had a great shop call Forever 21 (girls check it out if ever go to America, its such good value), and a good sale in the Roxy shop where I bought 2 coats for New York as its going to be cold. Went to the cinema in the afternoon and saw the new Justin Timberlake film Black Snake Moan.
Got picked up from the hostel about 7 and went to the airport for my flight to New York x
